"Saying 'I notice you're a nerd' is like saying, 'Hey, I notice that you'd rather be intelligent than be stupid, that you'd rather be thoughtful than be vapid, that you believe that there are things that matter more than the arrest record of Lindsay Lohan. Why is that?' In fact, it seems to me that most contemporary insults are pretty lame. Even 'lame' is kind of lame. Saying 'You're lame' is like saying 'You walk with a limp.' Yeah, whatever, so does 50 Cent, and he's done all right for himself."— John Green

Happy Thanksgiving!

On this day of thanks I felt I would list who/what I am thankful for.  But before we get to that, have a history lesson on Thanksgiving by the History Channel.

And now here is what I am thankful for:

My family:
  • My sister, Melissa - She is always there for me, each day every day.  I wouldn't be here without her.  She is my rock, my friend, the person I judge myself by.
  • My father, David - He is my champion.  He believes I can do anything, even when I'm screaming I can't.  I am engulfed in his love, and he makes my world feel safe.
  • My mother, Michele - I am just like her: smart, stubborn, emotional, righteous, strong.  I take my strong sense of self from here and I hope I am as great of a woman.
  • My brother, Raymond - He is the light in my life.  I can't imagine my life without him; I can't imagine a day where I don't get to see or hear about him growing up.  He is going to be a fantastic man one day.
My friends:
  • Jill - I've known her since 9th grade.  We've gone through birthdays, homecomings, graduations, and marriages together.  Now she's a world away and I miss her.
  • Apryl - 7th grade she came into my life in Home Economics.  She knows EVERYTHING about me and I know the same about her.  She is my sister from a different mister.
  • Elise - I wouldn't be surviving college without this girl.  This is the only good thing to have come out of the worst job I've ever had.  I love her so much.  Together we are Elisquared.
My Job - I love working for Barnes and Noble but the reason I'm thankful is for my boss and fellow workers.  This job wouldn't be nearly as much fun as it is without them.
Writing - This blog specifically.  And all the blogs I find inspiration from.
School - All my education classes have given me a better appreciation for language.
Books - J.K. Rowling, John Green, Ellen Wittlinger, Rachel Cohn, David Levithan.  Thank you!
Netflix - I know this seems strange, but I love this because I love movies.
Hot Chocolate - YUM!

And that isn't all of what I'm thankful for, but everything that is coming to mind.  I hope you've all had an amazing Thanksgiving and leave me a comment about what you're thankful for.
