"Saying 'I notice you're a nerd' is like saying, 'Hey, I notice that you'd rather be intelligent than be stupid, that you'd rather be thoughtful than be vapid, that you believe that there are things that matter more than the arrest record of Lindsay Lohan. Why is that?' In fact, it seems to me that most contemporary insults are pretty lame. Even 'lame' is kind of lame. Saying 'You're lame' is like saying 'You walk with a limp.' Yeah, whatever, so does 50 Cent, and he's done all right for himself."— John Green

Teaser Tuesday (50)

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following!
  • Grab your current read.
  • Open to a random page.
  • Share a few teaser sentences from somewhere on that page.
  • MAKE SURE NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (you don't want to give too much away and ruin the book for other readers)
Share the title and author too, so that other readers can add your book to their TBR list if they like your teaser!

I told Ducky once that Britta McVicker was my arch-nemesis, and he told me she was more like my arch-nematode.  Which really just goes to show that while I was busy getting knocked up, Ducky was actually paying attention in life science.

I wasn't sure about this book when I first heard about it.  I'm not really into the teen pregnancy thing; I tend to stay far away from anything like that.  But there was a blog tour for the book, and the summary, excerpts, and interviews intrigued me.  I figured "What the heck?", and decided to enter one of the giveaways.  And I was lucky enough to win a copy!  Let me tell you, I'm glad I did because this book, even with in the first 20 pages, is hilarious.  The glimpses of world building suck you in, and Elvie is a super snarky teenager (my favorite kind).  I can't wait to read more, and I wanted to encourage all of you to go check the book out as well!  Just goes to show, don't judge a book based on "subject"!
