"Saying 'I notice you're a nerd' is like saying, 'Hey, I notice that you'd rather be intelligent than be stupid, that you'd rather be thoughtful than be vapid, that you believe that there are things that matter more than the arrest record of Lindsay Lohan. Why is that?' In fact, it seems to me that most contemporary insults are pretty lame. Even 'lame' is kind of lame. Saying 'You're lame' is like saying 'You walk with a limp.' Yeah, whatever, so does 50 Cent, and he's done all right for himself."— John Green

Fight the Stay Puff Temptation!

Ever felt the need to have something? So bad you just are itching and antsy and can't freakin' wait? That's what these kids go through.

It's hilarious and distressing to see these little children so desperate for a little marshmellow. The New Yorker wrote a great article about the study using this to study will power.

The Secret of Self-Control

Could you do it? Leave your thoughts!

I am totally in LOVE with Drew Barrymore and Ellen Page's new movie Whip It! coming out October 2! That is just a WEEK from Friday!!!!!

Anyway so they showed at the Toronto Film Festival last weekend, and both Drew and Ellen looked amazing!

Drew's dress is reDONKulous! I thought the sleeves were freaking tattoos for a hot second. Must admit, not a huge fan of the dual hair, but she rocks it. And Ellen looking classy as always; she has such an old Hollywood glamour about her.

Clips have been released from the movie, and I've watched them all at least twice already. My favorite so far has to be this one:

So if none of you have heard of this movie, read up on it ASAP! THEN go see it October 2! You won't regret it! And frankly if you do, you have no taste.

I can't go!!!!!!!

The fact that I cannot attend this event is full of major suckage.

Happy September

I can't believe it's already September. Life seems to go through these phases of super slow then super fast. May, June and July went by at a snail's pace, while August was on the back of a cheetah. With August comes classes, and with classes comes head aches.

Gorgeous right? My eyebrows need waxing, my hair is a mess, and I have huge circles under my eyes. This is what classes do to me. I turn into a zombie who's master is higher education. (And yes those are penguins behind me. PENGUINS!!)

I'm nervous about this semester. So so so nervous. Which is very strange because I really don't have many classes: only 4. That's only 12 credit hours. That is the least I've done in a normal school semester. I'm usually taking 15-18 credits. But these classes require a lot of outside work. So I'm very glad I'm only taking 4.

That's enough about my stressing out. On to better stuff. I received my eDeposit from the university. That is esstentially my left over loan money. This means I am no longer broke.

I've paid off part of my credit card. Paid my rent until December. And bought some awesome stuff. Which is what I'm going to share with you.

  1. Supernatural Season 4
  2. Generation Kill
  3. Let it Snow
  4. Naomi and Ely's No Kiss List
  5. Melting Stone
  6. A Certain Slant of Light
I'm really excited! I love YA lit. My three favorite authors are John Green, Rachel Cohn, and Tamora Pierce. I literally read anything they've written. I'm such a book freak too. I keep saying all of it is for my future students, but when it comes time will I really want to let them borrow these books? I guess I'll know when I get there. But right now I can't wait until tomorrow!! Free two day shipping is AWESOME! Go Amazon!

That's pretty much it for now. I'm going to DragonCon this weekend, so expect a write up on that.

Peace, love & books,
