"Saying 'I notice you're a nerd' is like saying, 'Hey, I notice that you'd rather be intelligent than be stupid, that you'd rather be thoughtful than be vapid, that you believe that there are things that matter more than the arrest record of Lindsay Lohan. Why is that?' In fact, it seems to me that most contemporary insults are pretty lame. Even 'lame' is kind of lame. Saying 'You're lame' is like saying 'You walk with a limp.' Yeah, whatever, so does 50 Cent, and he's done all right for himself."— John Green

Ripper
by Stefan Petrucha
Publication Date: March 1, 2012

A glint turned her head down to his side.  His hand now held a long, sharp knife, its silver mixing with the gaslight's yellow.  By the time Elizabeth B. Rowley looked back up, his right hand was at her throat.  Any sound she might've made, any objection she might have raised, was stifled by his grip.

It's a little confusing, reading two books titled Ripper, but the stories couldn't be more different!  I love re-tellings (as I've said so many times), and especially when it's about Jack the Ripper.  I must admit to a slight fascination, and there have been some great books out about him lately.  This one is set in New york, and the Pinkerton Detective Agency is on the case.  So not only does this have the Ripper but the Pinkertons, another fascinating piece of history!  I'm so excited to finish this!

  1. Great Teaser! Jack the Ripper is a fascinatingly gruesome character in history and it seems as though several authors have written some intriguing re-tellings involving him lately.

  2. I'm fascinated with Ripper lore, too! Have you read The Name of the Star by Maureen Johnson? I enjoyed that one quite a bit. And now I'll be adding this one to my TBR, as well. Great teaser!

Here’s my Throne of Glass teaser. Happy Tuesday! :D

  3. Did you see the new headline a few weeks ago where someone thinks that Jack the Ripper was a woman? It was quite interesting.
