"Saying 'I notice you're a nerd' is like saying, 'Hey, I notice that you'd rather be intelligent than be stupid, that you'd rather be thoughtful than be vapid, that you believe that there are things that matter more than the arrest record of Lindsay Lohan. Why is that?' In fact, it seems to me that most contemporary insults are pretty lame. Even 'lame' is kind of lame. Saying 'You're lame' is like saying 'You walk with a limp.' Yeah, whatever, so does 50 Cent, and he's done all right for himself."— John Green

Top Ten Tuesday (4)

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish. This meme was created because we are particularly fond of lists here at The Broke and the Bookish. We'd love to share our lists with other bookish folks and would LOVE to see your top ten lists!
Each week we will post a new Top Ten list complete with one of our bloggers’ answers. Everyone is welcome to join. All we ask is that you link back to The Broke and the Bookish on your own Top Ten Tuesday post AND post a comment on our post with a link to your Top Ten Tuesday post to share with us and all those who are participating. If you don't have a blog, just post your answers as a comment.
The topic this week is: Top Ten Books That Have Been On My Shelf For The Longest But I've Never Read (Not in order at all)
  1. Graceling by Kristin Cashore
  2. The Eternal Ones by Kirsten Miller
  3. Tenth Grade Bleeds by Heather Brewer
  4. Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta
  5. Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver
  6. Matched by Ally Condie
  7. Prom by Laurie Halse Anderson
  8. Generation Dead by Daniel Waters
  9. The Sky is Everywhere by Jandy Nelson
  10. A Clash of Kings by George R. R. Martin
The sad part is ALL of these books were ones I was really really excited about reading, but I just got distracted or haven't had the gumption to read them.   So I was thinking I really need to work on this list, and remedy this atrocity.  Which book should I start first?

  1. I listed Graceling too and could agree with you on almost all the rest of the list. I forced myself to finally read The Sky is Everywhere this year and yes, I loved it so I can only say to start there.

  3. I've not read any of those, but I plan to dive into Geirge R R Martin before season 2 of Game of Thrones starts on the telly!

  5. Graceling was an unexpected surprise for me. I ended up loving it, though Fire was less likable to me. I can't wait for Bitterblue though!
