"Saying 'I notice you're a nerd' is like saying, 'Hey, I notice that you'd rather be intelligent than be stupid, that you'd rather be thoughtful than be vapid, that you believe that there are things that matter more than the arrest record of Lindsay Lohan. Why is that?' In fact, it seems to me that most contemporary insults are pretty lame. Even 'lame' is kind of lame. Saying 'You're lame' is like saying 'You walk with a limp.' Yeah, whatever, so does 50 Cent, and he's done all right for himself."— John Green

Recommend A... (4)

Welcome to the first installment of "Recommend A...", a fun new meme created by Shanyn over at Chick Loves Lit. Shanyn will post a new prompt each week, and anyone interested in participating will post a book recommendation that follows the prompt.  A different way to get recommendations!

This week's prompt is: Recommend a Trilogy!

Howl's Moving CastleCastle in the Air, and House of Many Ways
by Diana Wynne Jones

Each book is fantastic, and intertwines with the others. It isn't like some trilogies, as each could stand on it's own. However, you get so much more out of each story if you've read them all!  If you like fantasy, and you haven't read these yet, you need to step on it!!

  1. When I first read Howl (after seeing the amazing animated movie) I didn't realize it was a part of a trilogy. While the other books are just as fantastical, I think what you say about each book being able to stand on it's own, and for me the first book was the best (though the others are worth the read even just to catch a glimpse of Howl and Sophie).

  4. I'm not a huge fan of fantasy but I have heard so much about Howl's Moving Castle that I just might add it to my TBR list.
