"Saying 'I notice you're a nerd' is like saying, 'Hey, I notice that you'd rather be intelligent than be stupid, that you'd rather be thoughtful than be vapid, that you believe that there are things that matter more than the arrest record of Lindsay Lohan. Why is that?' In fact, it seems to me that most contemporary insults are pretty lame. Even 'lame' is kind of lame. Saying 'You're lame' is like saying 'You walk with a limp.' Yeah, whatever, so does 50 Cent, and he's done all right for himself."— John Green

Top Ten Tuesday (1)

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish. This meme was created because we are particularly fond of lists here at The Broke and the Bookish. We'd love to share our lists with other bookish folks and would LOVE to see your top ten lists!
Each week we will post a new Top Ten list complete with one of our bloggers’ answers. Everyone is welcome to join. All we ask is that you link back to The Broke and the Bookish on your own Top Ten Tuesday post AND post a comment on our post with a link to your Top Ten Tuesday post to share with us and all those who are participating. If you don't have a blog, just post your answers as a comment.
I'm excited to add this feature to my blog!  It's probably only going to be a random thing, but this week's is interesting, and I've loved reading everyone else's, so I thought what that hell?
Top Ten Books I Feel As Though
Everyone Has Read But Me
  1. Matched by Ally Condie - This book has been sitting on my shelf for awhile.  I actually have two copies, a signed ARC and a finished copy.  I've heard mixed reviews on the book, so I think that might be influencing my interest, but it is on my TBR list!
  2. The Wolves of Mercy Falls series by Maggie Stiefvater - Okay, so I've read Shiver, and then I bought Linger, and didn't even touch it.  Now Forever is out, and I still haven't read Linger.  WAY behind!
  3. If I Stay by Gayle Forman - I want to read this but I know it's sad!  I hate reading sad books!  I mean, I love them, but then I end up crying and snotting all over the place, and it's gross.
  4. The Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead - I just don't have any desire to read more vampire books.  I got so sick of all the vampire books that were popping up after Twilight, I just quite them.  I need to take a long break right now.
  5. Unearthly by Cynthia Hand - This is on the top of my list, I am just so behind.  And for some reason other books take precedent over this book.  Hopefully, I'll get to it soon.
  6. Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta - I feel like such a loser adding this book to the list.  I think I was off put by the title (Jellicoe just sounds really kiddish) and the cover (big orange flower doesn't tell me much.  But then I found out it's kind of a mix of contemporary and dystopian (dystopian-light) and I'm going to give it a try.
  7. Wither by Lauren DeStefano - Don't kill me!  It's on my list, I'm just really behind.  I want to read this before Fever comes out, but I don't know if  I'm going to make it!
  8. The Maze Runner by James Dashner - One of the few dystopians I didn't learn about when it came out, and then I kept reading all these great reviews.  I just missed this one, but I hope to rectify that.
  9. Thirteen Reasons Why  by Jay Asher - I know this is sacrilege within the YA book blogging world!  I knooooow!  I do own it, I just to have to crack it open.
  10. The Fallen series by Lauren Kate - I am now the proud owner of both Fallen and Torment (still have to buy Passion), but I still haven't read them.  Many times I like to wait to read series until I have all of them, so I can bang them out, but I have to wait until Passion comes out in paperback, so my series matches!
What is your top ten?

  1. Matched and the Vampire Academy series are on my list as well.

Definitely finish up The Wolves of Mercy Falls. I love Maggie Stiefvater and that's one of my favorite series. :)
